Don and Al for Sound Track of the Sixties on Radio ActionRADIO ACTION ROCK AND TALK (Platter and Chatter) 533 - April 18 - 18
April 18, 2018 06:00 AM PDT
Friends: Welcome to the weekly Rock and Talk Program from Radio Action.
Today we feature another action packed two hours of just the right amount of rock and talk - information and entertainment for a mid-week.
It is with considerably mixed emotions that today I listened as Al Murphy bade goodbye to his Radio Action listeners and fans. Al has been trying to balance personal family matters with his continued Radio Action involvement on a regular basis. Without question, family comes before hobbies and having fun.
I have said it before and will reiterate it here. Al Murphy has done all the heavy lifting for Radio Action. Commentaries are extremely time consuming to create - and Al has contributed thousands of commentaries over the 12 years we have been doing this radio gig. The hours he has invested are impossible to tally - but suffice it to say, stepping aside will free up a lot of his valuable time to devote to the things that matter most.
So, while we bid a farewell to a wonderful man and podcast partner - it really is NOT goodbye - Al will be dropping by from time to time with special commentaries - and beginning next week, will be here in replay format.
But, as is often said, the show must go on.
So join us for this edition of Rock and Talk - you will be glad you did.
Cheers for now.

Friends: Hello! Welcome to the weekly Rock, Roll and Remember Program from Radio Action. Al and I are happy to know that you are here, listening to these wonderful musical memories from bygone days.
And happy to report that last week we surpassed any and all previous weekly tallies for listens and downloads of our programs here on Podomatic.
Which tells us that radio is certainly not dead!
So, to those who are long time listeners, we sincerely thank you for staying with us - and to those new visitors, we do hope you will include us in your weekly listening.
Have a wonderful start to the week.
Cheers from Radio Action Rock, Roll and Remember.

Friends: Flashback Friday! Friday the 13th! And Sound Track of the Sixties.
All right here on Radio Action!
Join us as we rock down the top 20 tunes that were on the radio back in April 1964. There are some great memories here! Have a listen.
Following the count down, Al drops by with two of the best from Canada - it is Canadian Reflections on Radio Action.
And to complete the hour, a BLOCK OF ROCK - music from the Groove Yard - the shack out back where all the tracks are kept.
All in all, a great way to spend a couple of hours on a Friday.
Continued thoughts and prayers for Humboldt, Saskatchewan.

Friends: It is almost impossible to believe that following the tragedy of last weekend that there could be even more to report, but there is! Compounding the situation surrounding the deaths of 15 members of the Humboldt hockey team, it was learned just yesterday that two persons were wrongly identified.
A player who was thought dead is in fact alive, and another, who was reported as being alive, is dead. How these things happen is beyond comprehension, but I am going to suggest that in a small hospital, understaffed to handle such a tragedy of death and injury, identification of deceased persons may have been a problem.
Regardless, we still hold the players, parents, coaches and fans of the Humboldt Broncos in our thoughts and prayers and hope that healing will be forthcoming.
This tragedy will never be forgotten.
Thanks to all Radio Action listeners for your good thoughts and prayers as Canada goes through this time of tragedy.
The show must go on and here is this week's Rock and Talk program from Radio Action.
As an aside, I have negotiated some new and very financially favourable terms with our internet podcast carrier, Podomatic which takes us through to April 2019.
Don and Al for Radio Action.RADIO ACTION ROCK, ROLL AND REMEMBER 149 - April 9 - 18
April 09, 2018 01:32 PM PDT
Friends: This week we must take a moment to think about and pray for the families of 15 players and coaches who died in a horrific bus crash on the weekend just north of the small town of Humboldt, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Out on a lonely stretch of highway, miles from anywhere, the Humboldt Broncos were on a bus traveling to another town to play a hockey game. They never made it! At a level crossing the inexplicable happened! The bus collided with a semitrailer truck and the resulting collision killed 15 of the bus' occupants.
Needless to say this tragedy has reverberated around not only the hockey community in Canada, but in all of Canada. Winter bus travel is a reality for small town teams and many travel thousands of miles each season with complete safety.
But every once in a while an accident does happen. This one was simply horrible.
Take a moment to hold good thoughts for 15 families who lost loved ones - and then think also for those in critical condition in hospital.
And offer a word of prayer for everyone who is mourning losses today.
Thank you from all here at Radio Action.

April 05, 2018 11:44 AM PDT
Friends: I know this program is usually aired on Mondays here on the internet, but as Monday was a holiday for many of us here on the coast, I posted an archived show that day.
HOWEVER, today was a perfect day to get back on track - it is raining cats and dogs outside and there is no better day to be inside doing what I love to do than when the weather is inclement.
So, here, out of sequence, is ROCK, ROLL AND REMEMBER.
Join Al and me for two hours of great music. You will be happy to have made the decision to give us a click.
And thanks to long time listener Tim, for his triple play request.
Cheers for a rainy Thursday.
Don and Al for Radio Action.....
Three times each week, Big Daddy Donald Roberts and the swinging men from the Action Den, bring you GOLDEN OLDIES from the studios of Radio Action. Listen to some of the greatest music of all time with emphasis on the '60's and '70's.
During the Radio Action ROCK AND TALK program, Al Murphy visits on the 20's with RETROSPECTIVE - a 20/20 look back on issues of interest to Al, and hopefully you as well. Al also returns later in the program with SPORT DE JOUR - a look at everything "sport."
Michael Godin from Treasure Island Oldies stops by at the top of the hour with ROCK AND ROLL NEWS and James Murphy, all the way from Cambridge England, provides listeners with spectacular "choons" during his MISSING IN ACTION segment heard at the 25 minute mark of the first hour of the show.
Yours truly, Big Daddy fills in all the gaps with light banter and awesome music.
Radio Action - ROCK, ROLL AND REMEMBER is a program of mostly music that will keep you rocking and rolling - a fast paced two hours of some of the greatest hits of all time.
And Radio Action - SOUND TRACK OF THE SIXTIES looks at that incredible decade of music, featuring all the hits of our youth in a fast moving hour (plus) of survey countdowns. It is a blast!
Big Daddy Donald Roberts: I am a retired print plant manager, who has a love of music and radio - in 1967 I went to broadcasting school, and earned my diploma. Then real life kicked in, and I found a job at a printing company, where I stayed for the next 38 years. I have always had some kind of home studio, and it is there where donspodradio was born. Now I can do what I love, and do it for people who also love the music and listen to the program each week. Al Murphy is also a retiree from the same company - I was in Manufacturing and he in Human Resources! Al resides in Fergus, Ontario, which is a little bit west of Toronto - I on the other hand, live in Coquitlam, British Columbia, a bedroom community of Vancouver. When I started the donspodradio websites back in February, 2006, Al was the very first visitor - it wasn't long before he had recorded some promos for the station, and as they say, the rest is history. Now, every week Al drops by on the 20's with RETROSPECTIVE - his look back at issues of interest to him, and I hope, you as well. Every once in a while, Al either co-hosts a program, or takes over entirely - and his love of the music and information of the times shows through! It takes a bit of engineering to stretch the string tight between the two tin can microphones that link our studios, but it is well worth the effort as I am sure you will agree. So, please join us weekly, as we rock to the sounds of GREAT OLDIES - 5 hours each week right here! Over 8 years in podcasting, and still going strong! We hope you enjoy the weekly program and will take the time to email us at email@example.com or through this service provider. Rock on. The Real Big Daddy, Donald Roberts, and the Little Irishman, Al Murphy.
