From the two Dons - Have a wonderful Sunday and a great week ahead.....RADIO ACTION SOUND TRACK OF THE SIXTIES 183 - June 22 - 18
June 22, 2018 06:00 AM PDT
Friends: Welcome to another Flashback Friday and our weekly Sound Track of the Sixties program. This week we take a long look back to September 19, 1964 and the music that was on your radio that week.
In sequential reverse order, we play the top 20 tunes that we listened to way back then. From 20 down to 1 including a couple of "up and comers" and you have the weekly STOTS program in a nutshell.
Al is here with two 60's Reflection segments and James drops by with a 60's sleeper......and after it is all done, Al is back with Canadian Reflections - two great hits from north of the 49th - and then me with a block of rock!
It is a busy two hours and we would love it if you could join us for the fun.
Thanks for listening.
Don and Al for Sound Track.....RADIO ACTION ROCK AND TALK (Platter and Chatter) 542 - June 20 - 18
June 20, 2018 06:00 AM PDT
Friends: Is is warm enough for you? Summer has arrived here on the coast with daytime highs well into the 80's and 90's inland. I saw a photo of the dash thermometer in my son's car yesterday - after work it was 53C which is 127F.
That kind of temperature can melt stuff! He probably should have left a window down a bit.
I have a huge fan that I use on days like today - so it is not all that bad in here. But outside? Whew, it is warm! Not complaining - it has been a long time coming and I am going to enjoy it - the rains of fall will be here soon enough!
Here is this week's Rock and Talk show - hoping you will enjoy our work! We have fun bringing it to you and hope you have as much fun listening.
Thanks for being there, thanks for your support of Radio Action.
Don and Al.....RADIO ACTION ROCK, ROLL AND REMEMBER - June 18 - 18
June 18, 2018 12:54 PM PDT
Friends: What a start to the day! For over 2 hours I worked on the recording computer to get it to fire up and record today's program. Finally, after taking it apart, blowing some dust out of it and then rebooting it (for the umpteenth time) it started and is now functional once again.
So, even though the show must go on, sometimes it has to go on a bit later than normal.
Join Al and me for Rock, Roll and Remember - a great mix of music from the best eras of music - the 60's and 70's.
This is a great way to kick off a week. Simply give us a click or download to your device of choice. Listen on line, listen off line - but please listen.
Stay cool - very hot here on the coast today.
Cheers for Radio Action.

Don and Al for Radio Action.....RADIO ACTION SOUND TRACK OF THE SIXTIES 181 - June 8 - 18
June 08, 2018 06:00 AM PDT
Friends: Welcome to another Flashback Friday and our weekly Sound Track of the Sixties program.
Today we look back to a week in time - a week in the 60's when we were all listening to our transistor radios and counting down the hits of the day with our favourite DJ's.
This week we go back almost as far as we can - September 3, 1960 - and the tunes that were playing on your radio at that time.
Join me, Al and James for some superb entertainment - and after the countdown of the top 20 tunes of that week, stay for Al's Canadian Reflections and then a Radio Action BLOCK OF ROCK.
What a way to spend two action packed hours! So, wait no longer - give us a CLICK.
Thanks for your support.
Cheer for now
Don and Al for Sound Track and Radio Action.....RADIO ACTION ROCK AND TALK (Platter and Chatter) 540 - June 6 - 18
June 06, 2018 06:00 AM PDT
Friends: If you listen to this program, do so at your own risk. This is what happens when Big Daddy is left unsupervised and unscripted in the Radio Action Studio - oh yes, and with far too much McCafe Coffee.
Fun? Did we have fun? You bet! And as promised last week, I played the Fight Song for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers just for Al! He is a huge Bomber fan and rightly so, as he spent a good number of his working years in that city!
Come on over to Radio Action for some pretty great music - a MARVELOUS MIX OF SOME OF THE BEST MUSIC HEARD ANYWHERE.
Thanks for giving us that all important 'CLICK!"
Now, let's ROCK AND ROLL.
Cheers for now.
Don and Al for Radio Action.....
Three times each week, Big Daddy Donald Roberts and the swinging men from the Action Den, bring you GOLDEN OLDIES from the studios of Radio Action. Listen to some of the greatest music of all time with emphasis on the '60's and '70's.
During the Radio Action ROCK AND TALK program, Al Murphy visits on the 20's with RETROSPECTIVE - a 20/20 look back on issues of interest to Al, and hopefully you as well. Al also returns later in the program with SPORT DE JOUR - a look at everything "sport."
Michael Godin from Treasure Island Oldies stops by at the top of the hour with ROCK AND ROLL NEWS and James Murphy, all the way from Cambridge England, provides listeners with spectacular "choons" during his MISSING IN ACTION segment heard at the 25 minute mark of the first hour of the show.
Yours truly, Big Daddy fills in all the gaps with light banter and awesome music.
Radio Action - ROCK, ROLL AND REMEMBER is a program of mostly music that will keep you rocking and rolling - a fast paced two hours of some of the greatest hits of all time.
And Radio Action - SOUND TRACK OF THE SIXTIES looks at that incredible decade of music, featuring all the hits of our youth in a fast moving hour (plus) of survey countdowns. It is a blast!
Big Daddy Donald Roberts: I am a retired print plant manager, who has a love of music and radio - in 1967 I went to broadcasting school, and earned my diploma. Then real life kicked in, and I found a job at a printing company, where I stayed for the next 38 years. I have always had some kind of home studio, and it is there where donspodradio was born. Now I can do what I love, and do it for people who also love the music and listen to the program each week. Al Murphy is also a retiree from the same company - I was in Manufacturing and he in Human Resources! Al resides in Fergus, Ontario, which is a little bit west of Toronto - I on the other hand, live in Coquitlam, British Columbia, a bedroom community of Vancouver. When I started the donspodradio websites back in February, 2006, Al was the very first visitor - it wasn't long before he had recorded some promos for the station, and as they say, the rest is history. Now, every week Al drops by on the 20's with RETROSPECTIVE - his look back at issues of interest to him, and I hope, you as well. Every once in a while, Al either co-hosts a program, or takes over entirely - and his love of the music and information of the times shows through! It takes a bit of engineering to stretch the string tight between the two tin can microphones that link our studios, but it is well worth the effort as I am sure you will agree. So, please join us weekly, as we rock to the sounds of GREAT OLDIES - 5 hours each week right here! Over 8 years in podcasting, and still going strong! We hope you enjoy the weekly program and will take the time to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or through this service provider. Rock on. The Real Big Daddy, Donald Roberts, and the Little Irishman, Al Murphy.
