RADIO ACTION ROCK, ROLL AND REMEMBER - May 21 - 18
May 21, 2018 06:00 AM PDT
Friends: If you are as old as Don is, you will probably remember the little ditty, "It's the twenty-fourth of May, the Queen's Birthday, If we don't get a holiday, We'll all run away!"
And this weekend, we celebrate with the Victoria Day long weekend. Normally this would push our recording schedule back a day - but as luck or good fortune had it, Friday presented itself a perfect opportunity to record today's show.
So here is the weekly Rock, Roll and Remember program, on time and schedule.
If you are now on the last day of your long weekend, we do hope it was an enjoyable one!
Thanks for listening. If you like what you hear and think you know others who might like our programs too, please feel free to share the URL.
Cheers for now.

May 16, 2018 06:00 AM PDT
Friends: Welcome to the mid-week Radio Action presentation - our "flagship program" - Rock and Talk - a little platter and a little chatter.
It was fun to explore the concept of 45's the other day on Facebook with some FB friends - one person wondered if everyone even knew what a 45 was!
We did out best to sort things out - and continue to refer to them as "platters!"
So, join me today as I head out to the Shack out Back - The "Groove Yard" for some great oldies, great memories and fun music.
You just might like what you hear.
Al joins us with Retrospective on the 20's and again with Sport de Jour at 50 - James sorts out some tunes that are Missing in Action, and Michael is at the top of the second hour with Rock and Roll News.
Me? I just play the music! I get the easy job - the other gentlemen do all the heavy lifting.
Give us a click. You might like what you hear!

From winter to summer in a week! That is west coast living!

Al is here with his thoughts about MOTHERS on Retrospective during the first hour of the show - on the 20's and I have a few recollections of my own which I share too.
James is here with Missing in Action and Michael with Rock and Roll News - and I might add a sincere congratulations to Michael and Treasure Island Oldies, a 4 hour streaming radio show heard Sundays from 6 to 10 pm (Pacific Time) - treasureislandoldies.com on his TWENTY-FIRST ANNIVERSARY of the show. Friends: I often talk about the "battle of the machines!" when doing a program. My equipment is different than you might see in a radio station control room and I depend on my computers and mixing board to bring all the sound you hear to you in a tightly controlled manner.
Today, one of the computers that is a part of the music programming began to malfunction. I tried many things to fix it - reboot, reprogram - nothing seemed to fix the problem. Until I did some really deep trouble shooting once the program was finished. And found a little check mark that had somehow been unchecked - rendering my playback inefficient. Needless to say, it is now fixed.
The output of the show was not impacted, other than I was distracted by the malfunction - but the music is why you are here - and that is, as always, great!
So, join me for the battle of the machines for this edition of Rock, Roll and Remember.
Thanks for giving us a click.
Don.....RADIO ACTION SOUND TRACK OF THE SIXTIES 176 - May 4 - 18
May 04, 2018 06:00 AM PDT
Friends: Welcome to Flash-back Friday and another edition of Radio Action's SOUND TRACK OF THE SIXTIES- this week a fast romp down the top 20 from June 4, 1966.
June 4 is a special day on my calendar too, as it is my mother's birthday. She passed away a number of years ago now. In life, she was always a huge supporter of everything I did - and found the funds to get me into the National Institute of Broadcasting back in 1967 - when money was tight and radio jobs scarce.
So it is with all this in mind that I dedicate this show to my Mom with thanks for all her love and support over my lifetime. Mom lived long enough to see me retire from my "real" job and passed away at the young age of 96.
I worked in the Business Forms Printing Industry for almost 39 years but have always had a love of all things radio - and in retirement, I have devoted my time to that passion.
So join me, Al and James as we flashback to 1966.
Thanks for listening.

Join us for this fast paced two hours of entertainment - you will be glad you gave us a click.
And share the URL with friends you might know who would appreciate our form of radio entertainment. We would appreciate you doing this for us!
Now, lets get the music started - with a MUSIC EXPLOSION.....
A Little Bit of Soul gets things started!
Cheers from Rock and Talk.
Don and Al.....
Three times each week, Big Daddy Donald Roberts and the swinging men from the Action Den, bring you GOLDEN OLDIES from the studios of Radio Action. Listen to some of the greatest music of all time with emphasis on the '60's and '70's.
During the Radio Action ROCK AND TALK program, Al Murphy visits on the 20's with RETROSPECTIVE - a 20/20 look back on issues of interest to Al, and hopefully you as well. Al also returns later in the program with SPORT DE JOUR - a look at everything "sport."
Michael Godin from Treasure Island Oldies stops by at the top of the hour with ROCK AND ROLL NEWS and James Murphy, all the way from Cambridge England, provides listeners with spectacular "choons" during his MISSING IN ACTION segment heard at the 25 minute mark of the first hour of the show.
Yours truly, Big Daddy fills in all the gaps with light banter and awesome music.
Radio Action - ROCK, ROLL AND REMEMBER is a program of mostly music that will keep you rocking and rolling - a fast paced two hours of some of the greatest hits of all time.
And Radio Action - SOUND TRACK OF THE SIXTIES looks at that incredible decade of music, featuring all the hits of our youth in a fast moving hour (plus) of survey countdowns. It is a blast!
Big Daddy Donald Roberts: I am a retired print plant manager, who has a love of music and radio - in 1967 I went to broadcasting school, and earned my diploma. Then real life kicked in, and I found a job at a printing company, where I stayed for the next 38 years. I have always had some kind of home studio, and it is there where donspodradio was born. Now I can do what I love, and do it for people who also love the music and listen to the program each week. Al Murphy is also a retiree from the same company - I was in Manufacturing and he in Human Resources! Al resides in Fergus, Ontario, which is a little bit west of Toronto - I on the other hand, live in Coquitlam, British Columbia, a bedroom community of Vancouver. When I started the donspodradio websites back in February, 2006, Al was the very first visitor - it wasn't long before he had recorded some promos for the station, and as they say, the rest is history. Now, every week Al drops by on the 20's with RETROSPECTIVE - his look back at issues of interest to him, and I hope, you as well. Every once in a while, Al either co-hosts a program, or takes over entirely - and his love of the music and information of the times shows through! It takes a bit of engineering to stretch the string tight between the two tin can microphones that link our studios, but it is well worth the effort as I am sure you will agree. So, please join us weekly, as we rock to the sounds of GREAT OLDIES - 5 hours each week right here! Over 8 years in podcasting, and still going strong! We hope you enjoy the weekly program and will take the time to email us at email@example.com or through this service provider. Rock on. The Real Big Daddy, Donald Roberts, and the Little Irishman, Al Murphy.
